Trans Am Trail, Here I Am

Trans Am Trail, Here I Am

I bet you’re curious why I’ve been so quiet on this blog for the last couple of weeks. Well, if you haven’t been following me on my other social media outlet, I have been on the road. On June 22nd, I hopped on the Greyhound from El Monte, California and spent a whole day traveling to Pueblo, Colorado. I figure that the actual traveling event deserved its own video so here is the video of me prepping for the trip and taking the trip.

Vlog 19: Trans Am Week 0

It has already been a week of travel and it has been non-stop. Starting from Pueblo I got to ride up through Canon City at famous Royal Gorge which is made famous by several whitewater rafting expeditions in the area (no one from our group did this). We then left the Royal Gorge to Hartsel, Colorado where we were treated to a stay a barn. This was at the Hartsel Spring Ranch (Yelp). They allowed us to stay in their barn for the night but the other tour leader, Jared, and I decided to camp given that we were treated to a spectacular night show of distance lightning storms and twinkling stars. On top of that, we had a babbling brook next to us.

The next morning, I got to ride from Hartsel into Breckenridge. I was there last year on another Adventure Cycling trip so being back in town was very nostalgic. We spent a layover day there but Jared and I needed to bring the van into the dealership to fix some electrical problems. We even did some planning and reservations for the coming weeks of our trip as we enjoyed a second breakfast at the Mountain Lyon Cafe in Silverthorne (Yelp). Our host at the Fireside Inn was simply awesome! Their accommodations were magnificent and included breakfast. Both Nicky and Andy are super nice. If I ever go back to Breckenridge, this would be my stop.

After our much-needed layover, we began a long stretch of camping starting at Hot Sulfur Springs, Colorado and went on through Rawlins, Wyoming. Here is the video for your viewing pleasure.

    How many miles did you ride with the box on your back looks like a very challenging ride. Why did you take the bus seems like very uncomfortable trip why didn’t you take the train or fly?

      It was only about 16-20 miles. See my response below about why I took the bus.

      @Theresa – Budgetary constraints. I needed to save money in order to buy tickets to come back home.

    Great job packing your bike! Greater job transporting the box 60 miles.

      @Allyn – Not 60 miles. It was more like 16 or 20 miles. 🙂
