Trans Europe Bicycle Tour By The Numbers

Bordeaux

As I did after my Pacific Coast tour, here is the European version of the trip by numbers. Lots of interesting facts coming out of this one. The mileage was way lower than I expected. It must be the number of times we took the train and we ended our trip in Orsova. Another thing to note is that the riding statistics are between the dates April 8th and June 15th. I didn’t count anything outside of that, such as our road trip around Spain in these numbers.

71,937: total calories burned

42,040: total elevation gained (ft)

2890: highest elevation gained in a day (ft)

1903: total miles biked

211: hours on the saddle

82: total days away

57: days on the saddle

51: most miles ridden in a day

41: max speed (mph)

33: average miles per day

12: number of train trips (including off days and not including light rail trips within a city)

10: average speed (mph)

9: days off

9: countries biked through

7: country capitals visited

5: wine regions visited

5: airplane flights

3: wild camping opportunities

2: jars of peanut butter consumed

2: Warmshowers stay

1: flats (Johnny)
